Upcoming railway projects 2025-2035

Upcoming railway projects for 2026 include the launch of the first Vande Bharat Sleeper trains in September, the continuation of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, and the rollout of Amrit Bharat trains. Several capacity-expansion multitracking projects and new line projects in states like Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat have been approved to be completed by 2030-31. New Trains

Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains:

The first Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are slated for launch in September 2025, offering overnight travel with 16-coach configurations.

Amrit Bharat Trains:

Indian Railways will roll out 200 Vande Bharat trains, including both sleeper and chair car versions, and 50 Namo Bharat trains, which are designed for short-distance routes.

Manning Locomotives:

150 locomotives will be retrofitted with in-cab toilets, a move that enhances crew comfort and working conditions, especially for female loco pilots.
